Some will be 0% and some will be 80%. It is best to not be frustrated with shipped eggs.Man, you can find some really good deals on hatching eggs on eBay, even from sellers with fantastic feedback. What is usually the hatch rate of shipped eggs? I read less than 50%, is that true?
The problem with shipped eggs cost is the low hatch rate. With shipping you can spend $50.00 for the eggs and hatch one chick. That is $50.00 for a chick. If you picked up eggs from Papa, you should get 75% to 100% to hatch or closer to whatever the price is for each egg.I know Papa Brooder sells eggs and he lives right by me, but they're just a bit out of my price range. I have my first hatch planned so I won't be needing to buy eggs for another 4 weeks or so, but it's still fun to look and see what's available. I REALLY want to hatch out Polish chicks!

What are the chances that eggs shipped from Pennsylvania with be viable?

Make sure the bedding is deep and REALLY clean. How fat is the hen? My marans don't do well with shipped eggs.

Ebay eggs I would expect an adverage of 30% out of a styrafoam incubator or less. Only buy from people who state packing method and you are reasonably sure the Pictures are theres 90% are not. And i would for sure wash those eggs no telling what unknown hens are gonna pass on. Also my polish shipped is much less then 30%.
Crele and LF Chocolate? Why hello, my new best friend.I love all the names!
Salad, I haven't heard that one before![]()
I use unactivated, 1/4 teas. to a quart of water. I don't know if it helps, but I've only been treating eggs that I needed to wipe down for some reason. Of course last night I was reading an article about disinfecting all eggs before setting them.
I love mine, I have Jubilee, lavender, crele, black, chocolate and chocolate bantams. They truly are the fuzziest, plumpest chicks.
Rather than a meaning, a ceilidh is an event. It's a party, singing, dancing, joyful and everyone is happy. That just sounded like the way a border collie lives life. Of course there is the Scottish connection, so it seemed appropriate. And my original BC is from a long line of UK imports.
You are making it hard for me to pretend Papa Brooder doesn't exist. If I splurged on that little Brinsea, I could get Cuckoo silkie eggs! Hint: let Jeff know that you want eggs and to keep you in mind for any orders that fall through. I bet he would let you have those eggs at a discount.

I'm planning on using bantam Cochins in boxes on towels, but open to suggestions. Neither hen is obese, just average, I guess?
