Woohoo, great couple days! Not only are my chickens negative for MG, but one of my two foster dogs was just adopted! He was a senior dog with medical problems so I'm really happy he was able to find a home in just a couple months. Good news just keeps coming. :)

I've been missing pages here and there so I don't know if you actually found an answer? Sometimes just knowing its not something horrible is enough.
So with the seramas i placed second in showmanship ^·^

Well done!

Yay, I just sold 14 more hens. That's about 40 hens and 15 roosters I've moved out in the last week.

There are 8 hens and one more rooster schedule to go this next week and a few possible sales pending.

Emptying some pens is a GOOD feeling! Less work, less feed, less noise and all the rest that goes with an extra 65 or so adult chickens.
That is a lot of birds - hooray for space and reduced feed bills :) Now you can hatch more

A blood sample was sent in. There are not that many tests that can be run on one blood sample. One time I had to give 4 vials for the tests they wanted to run on my blood.

I felt like a vampire was after me....

Yeah, don't worry about that. I won't tell you how many times I've tossed half a feed sack full of eggs because I was too lazy open/cook them.

If I was willing to handle/process them correctly I could probably keep a food closet supplied on my own. Hopefully not for long, I plan to keep cutting back the numbers until it's manageable.

Yeah.................best laid plans that I am Sooooooo NOT good at......LOL

We were out at the farm yesterday picking up a daughter and doing a few chicken chores. When I was there the last time, I noticed that one of my Pita PInta pullets was losing some feathers on her neck. I just chalked it up to her being Zoro's favorite. But now there are 3 of them with hardly any feathers on their necks. I am kicking myself for not looking closely at them. I have never had this happen with my chickens and it wasn't until later that it dawned on me that we might have a mite/lice thing going on.

Dealing with that in a farm setting is going to be harder than here in town. Recommendations, anyone? I know that we have discussed this several times before so I can search the thread for answers but it is easier to just ask again. I currently have Eprinex, permethrin, Sevin dust, and Frontline spray. The thought of treating all our birds out there is daunting.

1. Treat the coop with a liquid spray. Permethrin concentrate works well and TSC has it. Repeat ever two weeks.
2. Dust or spray them with either seven or poultry dust
3. Ivermectrin once and then in two days or frontline spray once a month. One spray under the wings and on the vent.

I just ordered some no mite strips from McMurray this week. I need to get new ones out to the coops.

Thank you, Ron! I remember you recommending the strips. I'll have to order some, too. Where is the best place to buy Ivermectrin?

hmm wonder how these would work in a sand bottom coop

Amazon or Jeffers. Look for a generic and use pour on for buggies. I have durvet pour on and Bimectrin injectable.
