California - Northern

I just want to cuss, cry, and hit things. I've lost two of my hens, and now our indoor-only cat, Buddy, has vanished. He's gone. I searched the house, my sister searched the house, my two brothers searched the house, and even my DOG searched the house. He's not there. His collar was found 3 streets down. We don't know how he got out. Even when he does get out, he wants back inside right away. We think he was stolen. He's probably being used as bait for fighting dogs...Why is all of this happening to me?

I'm so sorry! /hugs.
Toby is a real sweet boy. he is about 6-7 months old and has never had  a family . He was part of a Puppy mill and along with the other dogs they couldn't sell where just caged and fed. he was not lite at least and is very healthy. with Black and Tan Coonhounds people want them with more black on the face and legs so more tan is harder to sell I guess.
There is a lot of love in those eye though

Wow thats a project I could not take on. Hows it going? I am filled with admiration for that rescue.

Those silkies were a big hit with the family. Luckily everyone is very impressed with the friendliness of the Pita Pintas so I am safe for now.

Yes, I can't keep all of them. I hatched out several hundred this year and I am only allowed six....

Yeah we saw your eggs....

Gaaaa! Our local wildlife center is releasing bobcats onto mt hamilton.
Fml. I think in honor of this in going to double fence all my cages or put lattice up around them all.

Do bobcats eat hawks??

Sigh.
(Sorry laura!)

Are you serious???
An electric fence is not to expensive. You'd probably only need one box and wire all of your pens.
I've heard you can get big predator urine online and maybe some stores. They "supposedly" smell it and run the other direction.
Motion lights may help at night.
And lots of predators are coming down from the hills. Last week there was a mountain lion in Modesto. Think it was on kcra. No food around so they're searching

I thought there was a law that said that they had to be released back to the area that they were found?

Why is it when you hatch meat birds you end up with lots of girls? I'd like to try PP 's just for meat, but I'd end up with lots of girls. I know they're good layers but don't have room for more layers.
The Bresse I got about half or more girls.
Yet all of my other breeds get tons of boys

So far the Pita Pintas have been hatching out plenty of Boys.

It is very easy to rehome girls though. Wolftracks takes her extras to an Auction.

Yes, do call me and let's chat about the blessed Gallus gallus domesticus. Fairfield is within a couple hours drive from me (Acampo) so my visiting your home gallinaceous enterprise is a reasonable goal. And never be put off by the prospect of calling me as I have friends going back in time as far as tenth grade in high school who call me to this day at three o'clock in the morning! I welcome those calls so why should you be any different? Yours is welcome too. Call any time! I only defer from accepting commercial calls as my number is on the National Do Not Call List. And such folks know better than to violate that restriction as to their horror I have found ways to deal with the miscreants which teaches them to never do it again! And these consequences must have come to the notice of the rest of the commercial community as I rarely receive an unsolicited commercial call any more. Must tell you about that sometime. Okay, it's your turn…
Stay well and contented,

My foster buffs orps are now 14 weeks old and in serious need of a new home. I let them into the run (had to tempt them out with watermelon) and no real fighting broke out. Some short squabbles among themselves. The only ones to pick on them were the other buffs. I guess it is a right of passage thing

I would really like to get rid of them my CL add went nowhere. What is a reasonable price for such birds?
