It really is but I just put the incubator away after hatching from January till the middle of August and after selling a bunch of ducks, geese and chicks I still have over 60 chicks from 3 weeks to 12 weeks old now more so I guess I had better get back on Craig's list and sell some more ........
Hi all! @ronott1 I am close to 500 posts behind so I am going to hop in and share pics of the chicks you hatched for me. Plus for @lualshannon here is Ike. Who has been brilliantly tolerant of the young cockerels. So in the foreground L to R is my PP pullet, the enormous Konza I have named Magnus and Reese their Konza hatchmate. They hatched on 7/2. In the back is one of my wacky Red Star cockerels. He and his two brothers will be in the freezer within the week. Ike is a honey and I am looking forward to the two NH pullets I will be bringing home for him in a few weeks.
Daphne: I have to get a distance away from her to take a picture b/c if I get too close she is on me. Far and away the most interactive chick I have had. Also looking forward to getting more like her in the spring
See why I call him Reese?
Magnus is probably my keeper. He started out big and that is what I would want to pass on to his offspring. I hope that I can get Konza eggs from Arielle in the spring. The Konza rooster would be in with my laying flock. Hoping for faster maturing larger barnyard mixes for the table from this guy
Renee was going for many qualities with the Konza one being a bird that would be less visible to ariel predators. Reese has the camo thing down.
Here are all three plus the little PP boy I lost. Ron hatched em all. The one I lost is the snowy white one in the back then Reese, Magnus and Daphne.
Check out the width of Magnus' stance. He is still a wide body!
Daphne front and center for the photo op
Magnus and Reese in the back.
Hope your flocks are healthy and happy. Sorry to drop in with an "all about me" post.
Hugs to all who have suffered losses,
Cheers to all who have been on the receiving end of those lovely first eggs
Congrats on successful hatches
Atta Boys and Atta Girls to all award winning birds and the folks who bred them
Kudos to all of you who are here to answer questions about birds in trouble. You are the BEST resource on the web!!
7 of 9 silkie/sizzles hatched, 1 more internally pipped (last one has no movement so not expecting anything)
9 of 10 choc orps have hatched, last one is externally pipped & zipping right now
Here's the latest pics:
L to R: silkie (marked "SR", has a slight brown hue to topknot & undercarriage) and potential sizzle ("zig")
First 2 choc orps with a white silkie (?:egg marked "wbc") in the middle
A piece of twine somehow managed to find its way into my Silkie pen, and also managed to hobble my best pullet by her extra toes. I don't know how long she was like that, but now she isn't eating or drinking, so I want to give tube feeding a try. What size do I use, what do I give her when tube feeding, and where can I find a tube?
Daphne is like a puppy. I still want to make the Napa Valley meet up work so that I can get some eggs. Now that most all of my girls have raised at least one clutch I have a feeling I have a serious round 2 coming on.
Question: Do those of you with extra pullets this time of year usually try to get them to POL and sell them in Jan/Feb? Not that I have a lot of extra pullets but I do have the silkies sitting on 9 eggs between them...and like I said I believe I will have a few more go for round two before the year is over.

So sorry to hear this!
How long do you know has she not been eating or drinking? One thing our chickens can almost never say no to is wet, scrambled eggs with some feed or oatmeal mixed into it, and water, or watered buttermilk on top. You get the benefit of having them drink a little while eating.
Kathy has some links of threads she's put together for tube feeding including sizes and amounts to be fed. She is an expert.
