we had about 1 1/2" of rain last night in about a hour period. it snowed over the Sierra. I drove over Carson Pass at 10 pm and was snowing up there.
pretty cool for September.
The King fire site got the same rain i think. at least on the south side of the site.
besides where they are going to let the fire burn out on its own the fire is gone.
just smoldering trees and stumps remain of the fire.

I was coming home from errands this morning, and saw a sign for our community garden plant sale and tour. So I went by and visited all the garden beds and heard about the bees and talked to them about their chickens. They are thinking of getting some more chickens, so I sent them over here to find a local breeder.

My Wife had priority surgery today to repair her wrist joint. No bone reduction so it should heal faster! I was able to squeeze a chicken and bunny video in though.. Crested Cream Legbar chicks are six weeks old tomorrow.

P.S. Of the 4 day-olds I got from you, 3 are pullets (crested cream legbar, penedesenca, & mystery cross)! The pene cockerel is so pretty too.

So my cream legbars, U of a blues and OE started laying
They are a little flighty since they were raised by my hen. But the UofA did NOT like me taking her egg from her, lol.
She was very unhappy with me. Love new layers

I'm having fun with the silkie/sizzle/cochin mystery mix from Papa Brooder (Jeff).

Here's a neat looking one - I'm guessing barred/cuckoo smooth silkie(?):


And then I have a black&white barred/cuckoo sizzle:

It started out with just white tips on all the feathers.

And 2 gray/white barred/cuckoo sizzles:

These were slow to show their barring - just noticed it recently.
Unfortunately, the pictures don't really do their barring justice.

Also, I got the curliest white frizzle cochin:

They are so fun.

The rain came just in time. I'm so happy for those that did not lose their homes. My heart goes out to those that did.
