My chicky is naughty for attention, she is a house chicken. My dad wants her in my room pretty much 24/7 unless she is outside with up in her tractor, well we have this baby/animals gate at this point we leave open most of the time so the dogs can come in and out of my room and Pancake stops at the door a few feet in front of the the door to watch people in the rest of the house. We'll have it open like for like hours but as soon as she hears my dad she'll wander further then normal to get his attention.

It is hilarious as it is frustrating. Because if the gate isn't closed I'll hear. 'The duck-duck is not in your room.' Don't ask me why he came up with this nickname for her but it has stuck and she comes to 'duck-duck'. I swear if he herded her back into my room and told her to stay she would.

I tried asking in a new thread but nobody commented so I'll try here.. Can you help me with gender on my araucana, please? Five weeks old..

It may be too soon to tell for sure but the color of the comb looks male to me.

That is a very pretty chick for sure!

Quote: I took a look down her throat earlier with a light and was not able to see anything. She seems fine otherwise....eating, drinking, etc. This is my one that is missing a foot and is the most tame of all of my chickens. I sure hope she is able to clear whatever it is. I will be very upset if I lose her. I was watching some other videos of chickens making similar sounds and some said they were fine the next day. Hopefully it is something she will be able to clear on her own.....

Can anyone tell me what might be going on with this pullet? I came home this afternoon and heard this awful sound...

Sounds awful. I have not ever heard that before.

5 weeks is a bit young for sexing, but I'd have to say male based on the comb.

Quote: Good thinking!

Ron,

Now it plays the chicken making that noise (I agree, sounds very odd), but then it goes on to a children's birthday part gift opening.... Were we MEANT to see that?

Chicken - I'm far too new to know anything about that noise she's making, but I notice it's on inspiration and expiration - could something possible be stuck somewhere and causing that? It sounds like a combination of wheezing and vocalizing (to me).
