California - Northern

I found someone in Texas that has a line from a breeder in Texas that looks like it might be dual purpose. The Rooster looks big as well as the hens. I am hoping to test hatch them in the Spring for her and if so there may be some extras.

Yes, Australorps used to be dual purpose.

Did you see, there was an article about Eatwell Farm in Dixon, in National Geographic? They are switching over to Australorps. I was checking in on their progress, and saw some pictures of an Australorp flock in Woodland. I posted, trying to find out where the farm is located. I'm not sure if that is the place raising them for Eatwell or not. Scroll down to the Oct. 9 post.

Ron, I'm not sure how you can see it, if you're not on Facebook.

Thanks Kim!

Let me know if they reply with information on the flock in Woodland.

I just left a post on the fb page for eat well farm. Hopefully they will get back to me. I will happily share any information I receive.

Ron I hope that your Texas breeder works out for you too. I don't want to breed but I really would like to have a local source.

Well my ill birdie seems to have recovered somewhat she now runs for the end of the coop and doesnt spend the day sleeping. She is a bit thin but we have been feeding them a mash for the last few days and she seems to be getting her fill.
We also let her out to forage on her own a bit and she seems to have perked up.

@PetRock came by and looked at her and she apparently had enough of being prodded and poked so she is now up and around (or Debi found the reset button on her)

Will be adding DE to the mash for a while and see it things continue to improve.

I store my flour in the freezer. I never have the weevils anymore. @ AmyPaperlady

I found some white whole wheat flour in the back of a cupboard that has so many of those little tan bugs in it that it looks like regular whole wheat

Can I use it to make something high protein for the chickens, or do I need to just toss it? It's over a pound of flour...

A word of warning - stay away from sustainable poultry.

Walt if you are reading this, Adkins is at it again!
