California - Northern

I know it's a long shot but I'm looking for bantam cuckoo maran and bantam welsummer hens. I'm in San Francisco but I'm willing to drive a little ways to pick up the perfect birds

I have a shipment of silkie chicks (white, black and buff) coming mid February, if anyone is interested I'm sure to have more then I plan on keeping ultimately.
Just so you know, bantam marans have egg so light they are not different then store eggs. they are for sure a work in progress. Of course cuckoos have lighter color anyway, but bantam cuckoos are likely to be merly tan. I don't know if wellies are the same, but I have never seen a bantam wellie egg s I dint know for sure. Brow egg genes are very involved so dint switch well when you try and recreate something in a different breed like a bantam.

Can chickens eat too much grit?
Ron answered it better, she might be hungry and think its food. Or be playing with it, min sometimes toss grit and oyster shell around and run like its treats.
I have been around and noticed i have not been posting much! I bought some new silkies at the show today, and had a few people call me for Marans eggs at later dates. that was exciting! Ill try and participate more!

Great to see you back on the board.

Thanks Chris......it was nice to see you at the show today. We were talking about another chicken party. I think it will be planned for the last week end in April or the first week end in May. Keep an eye out for further notices. Jules (fortyfivefarms) & Dyann (Chooklet) will be organizing it again.

Such a strikingly marked little chick, I'll cross my fingers that Able becomes Abby.
Thank you! I am going to start calling her Abby in an attempt to seal the deal

Funny that you should say that. I was thinking the other day that I missed your posts. we all have real lives and understand absences but wanted you to know that I did miss you.

Thanks for the Marans eggs Shantih. I sent them home with Jules to hatch for me. It was so nice seeing all of you again. Missed seeing more. I don't get out as much anymore but continue to be interested. I didn't get to see Mario......please say Hi for me.
