I have had good results in the short term with the permethrin but it seems like the mites still come back every once in a while, so I have to repeat it every few months. I did use the ivermectin once for lice but it was a while ago. I should probably switch up my methods more often to avoid building up resistance.

Thats funny. I use ivermevtin normally but recently used the permethrin to switch it up and avoid building resistance. I'm also going to try adding the wood ash to their dust nath as a preventative or adleast a deterrent. We have wild birds in the neighborhood that seem to bring everything under the sun in..

I buy it online - the answer to all the more difficult to find things!

I got mine on amazon, it's from Duda Energy. Look for pure elemental sulfur, no additives, feed grade.
And I wasn't just talking to you! I just can't figure out why people don't use it all tge time as a matter of course, just like they do with DE (which I think is not a good thing to use in the coop). I found out about it from Gail Damerow's book "Chicken Health", which is very thorough and a classic - but somehow this knowledge hasn't made it to the message boards...

I got some wonderful Delawares and some new Pita babies 2 dozen new chicks


15 delaware 6 pita (and I bought 3 buff orps)
Had to split them up eventually

The dels will be for sale after Easter.

They are so cute!!! I can testify that the Delaware are hardy big fluff balls! They were like a mob in the incubator and brooder! Almost all of them hatched earlier than the Pita Pinta and this is the second time it has happened that way. I am interested in seeing if the same thing happens with your hatch, Ron!

I wish that I wasn't having to downsize in preparation for a move or I would defintely want some of these Delaware chicks!

I have the pita pinta eggs in the Brinsea. I used the cooldown cycle for this hatch. Hopefully, it will make a difference in hatch vigor.

Which Brinsea incubator do you have? I'm thinking about selling my GQF cabinet hatcher and my Brinsea Octagon 20 and then purchasing a Brinsea Ovation 56.

I have an ocatagon 40 ex advance. It is not a current product(brinsea does not sell it anymore). I started a thread for the new ovation models and they are working out great for folks so far.

Get the one with the built in humidity pump.
