attic work on a hot day is brutal!Ugh. The smoke here is terrible too. It has been feeling more like the norm. I just keep waiting each year to see what will burn each year. They have at least stopped it from burning into the camp fire region again.
It has been a bummer working out in the smoke. But I did enjoy the cooler temp, especially since I was crawling in an attic today.
That happened to one of my hens last year. They can't escape the air quality when they're living in it.The smoke was so awful today! I did enjoy the slightly cooler temps though! If it’s not one thing it’s the other :-( I’m worried about my chickens as they seem to have an upper respiratory thing as it is, they don’t need crappy air too. Ugh. Summers here feel relentless…
Because you know how hot it would be if the smoke was not thereUgh. The smoke here is terrible too. It has been feeling more like the norm. I just keep waiting each year to see what will burn each year. They have at least stopped it from burning into the camp fire region again.

Yeah, I have nowhere to put them all so they can’t escape it! I feel so bad for them :-(That happened to one of my hens last year. They can't escape the air quality when they're living in it.
Because you know how hot it would be if the smoke was not therestill not ideal conditions but gotta appreciate the cool temps.
Hoping and praying these fires get under control sooner than later.
any ideas? Thread '1 y.o. silkie mama hen immobile, help please' https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/1-y-o-silkie-mama-hen-immobile-help-please.1488841/Sounds like maybe she injured the leg and it's probably hurting her. I had a quail just recently that I thought had really bad bumblefoot and that was why she wouldn't walk and seemed sad. Took her to the vet and the vet said the bumblefoot was super mild and we caught it too early to cause the no walking. After checking the leg, she said that given the way the leg moved, she likely tore a tendon in her knee joint and that these can take weeks to heal if they're going to...I would have never figured that, since there were no visible signs of injury. Make sure she has food and water close to her, and maybe some added incentive food to make sure she eats? I am so sorry she isn't feeling well!Having issues with my silkieany ideas?
