California - Northern

Tomorrow looks to be bad for air quality for most of the north state.

Luckily I bought a furnace filter that catches smoke partilces.

Someone has apparently called the city on “my” roosters (we don’t have any!). Meanwhile the neighbor’s multiple roosters continue to crow. I just can’t deal with this now — there is a huge amount else going on as well, so I’ve decided it’s time to just find them new homes. I’ve posted in the rehoming section, but wanted to link it here also.

Thanks,

That's so frustrating! Are you having to get rid of all your chickens now?!

I am sorry to read this!

Here in Woodland, I can call the community Services offices and tell the I do not have roosters.

When I called the animal control office, the officer was insistent that the roosters were heard in my backyard, just as I insisted we don’t keep roosters. I am just really frustrated and worried and I feel like my girls and the specimens (silkies) are at risk.

It felt like nothing short of me not having any birds at all is going to be the answer. There are a couple of unrelated family issues looming that I’m also concerned about the girls getting the attention they are used to. So I’d rather post here in the hope that a BYCer wants them before I resort to Craigslist.

What are the rules in your City? Here we are allowed to have 5 hens.

So sorry about animal control. That sounds like a real bummer. I do hope they can just come out and see for their own eyes that you don't have roosters. If you can't, I hope you find them good homes.

Hey all, hello! I have a friend who lives in Eureka, now THAT's northern California! He makes fun of me when I say I live in northern California (20miles east of Sacramento) because HE's in the north, lol. I would have to say that anything south of Sacramento and north of the grapevine is in the central valley. It's all good!
Lol, I'm in Eureka and anything south of Cloverdale feels like South to me!
