My DH works for UC Santa Cruz but we live in Antioch (on the Delta in eastern Contra Costa County). He has a little efficiency apartment in Santa Cruz close to campus and comes home on the weekends. He took the job 3 years ago and right after that the housing market crashed in our area. We thought that we would move there within 6 months to a year but here it is 3 years later and we are no closer to being together as a family. DH would like to find a bigger place to rent but now I have my chickens and we have to find a chicken friendly house to rent. I guess that we will be looking for a place outside the city limits since we already have 7 pullets and will be getting a few more this spring.

I don't know if I should be offended or not. Since I am also from California (born in SoCal but lived most of my life in SF Bay Area).

JK Aubrey, sorry we didn't have any info on the lavender Silkies for you over on the Nevada thread.

Just wanted to say hi so I can find this thread again! I am in Suisun City with 3 chickens I recently re-homed from one of my daycare parents. I have no problem with sending them to the crock pot when they stop laying, but I think I'm gonna have to keep it a secret from the family I got them from.

Grew up between here and Richmond and always considered myself Nothern Californian.

from east of McKinleyville, which is north of Eureka and behind the Redwood Curtain! Any fans of micro breweries out there? I work at Six Rivers Brewery in McKinleyville - we have a small 7 barrel system, but send beer as far south as San Diego, and north to Portland. Now that I've found this thread, I'll be checking in!

DH asks for a sample of each, lol. But seriously, where can we find it in Santa Rosa/Healdsburg area?
Welcome to the thread

That's the ticket! I'll bet I get more chicken support if I combine "micro-brew" with "chickens" in the same sentence!

Thanks - nice to be here!
Off the top of my head, I'd say the Bottle Barn. Our distributor hasn't picked anything up from us in a while, so I don't know if it'll be in stock, but you can ask for it and then we should get the order. Our next shipment heading south will be shipped out on 1/23, so anything you get after that date should be fresh. We bottle Moonstone Porter, Bluff Creek Pale Ale, and IPA in 12 oz, and Chili Pepper Ale in 22 oz. Beware the Chili Pepper Ale...It's really HOT! When we get our new 22 oz bottling machine, we'll also be filling 22's of Kona Moon Porter (infused with 100% Kona coffee) and our Raspberry Lambic, which conains the juice of 480 lbs REAL raspberries! We never use extracts...EVER! If you ever make it up this far north, we have a full bar and restaurant as well, with 11 beers on tap (all ours). We're called "The Brew With the View" because our huge windows overlook pastures, the Mad River, the dunes, and the ocean. You can check out our website: http://www.sixriversbrewery.com/
It
would be great to see BYC buddies up here!
ETA: If you click on the sidebar "Brewmaster", you can see a photo of the brew crew. I'm the female one holding the pom in my avitar - he's one of our representatives!
