Hello All!

I live in auburn, Ca and I am new here. I have been looking around for a while, but decided it was finally time to start posting!
My 3 chickens are 13 weeks old, and 2 are roosters! Ack. Anyone have tips in the Northern CA area of who will take my roosters and where to find similar age pullets? I've been searching and posting on craigslist with only a little bit of luck.

Thanks for everyone's help and I look forward to learning more and getting to know everyone!

He was really unhappy there. The only thing that kept him going was GATE, and the school discontinued it. (to teach them how to use powerpoint and use facebook

) So he was bored, and spending his recesses in the library. I suspect there was some bullying going on too - my son isn't into competitive sports and in 4th and especially 5th, you really see the "clicks" with the sports kids.

He absolutely loves being homeschooled and his STAR test scores are higher than they were at public school. So it's obviously working for him, which is all that's important.

I didn't like high school either.
Neither of my boys like sports. Both are active though. They prefer hiking, nature walking and doing man chores (weeder, mower etc) and working with tools. So by no means inactive just not into sports at all. That's awesome he is doing so well with school!

Are they? I am too inexperienced to know if they are pretty eye candy but meh as breeders or if they are actually pretty nice! LOL Jen said that they hen won BOV at a show recently- that's pretty cool! Now I have to figure out where to put them. They are in a large kennel right now and there is no room in my garage (hubby just filled it up with more stuff. yay.), and I really don't want to put them in the house. The garage was NOT full yesterday when I emailed the lady- he literally filled it up last night. Bad timing.

I can't leave them outside- a skunk or coon could reach their hands through there. :|

Hi! Welcome. :D I am in Redding so I cannot help with that area. I hope someone can. I am pretty sure there are some people in this thread that can sell you some pullets though. :D Roosters- you can Craigslist them.

Shoot...lost all my multi quotes!

Here's what I can remember...Ron, you seem to be enjoying the quiet. I sold two WCB Polish a couple of weeks ago, SOOO much quieter!

Papa Brooder....why can't I remember your name??? Jim? Love your BLRW! They look like characters! They light brown egg layers?

Deb, you're the queen of good deals on Craigslist!

Sorry if I missed anyone!

Here's some pics of my Polish chicks that hatched last week. My EE in the barn who was only hatching rotten eggs (I think she didn't manage the heat well) finally hatched one of the 9 eggs I gave her that was started from my other EE, who I gave excess from the Polish! HUH? Anyway, here's some the Polish and one of the EE's with her chicks.
Do you think she wonders why they have funny heads?

WCB Polish or maybe Chocolate?

Polish Broody with some of her chicks

Hardly a trace of smoke here today and yesterday. We went on the lake for the day and enjoyed the amazingly beautiful, smoke free day!
They are so cute. Yay for no smoke. This smoke is killer. Yuck!

Hi!

Welcome! Unfortunately, the market for extra roos has been pretty well saturated by this time of year, but keep trying! What breed are they? Chickee on this this thread lives very near you and has some pullets for sale. I have two from her and they're great! There are others with chickens available too.

Good luck,
Lynda

Thanks everyone for the advice!
Yea, they are just mixed breed, and I know they'll just end up someones dinner (which I am not opposed to) It's just a matter of finding someone to take them for free. Ill keep trying craigslist.
We hatched them in my classroom with my students. They were just too cute, I HAD to take some.

I think one of my RIR is a roo. Not sure though. I am just guessing by its attitude and it's comb is really big compared to my other RIR. They are 11 weeks.
