New bantam chickens!
Excuse my typos. Sent from my iPhone.

For a bantam that rooster is a SOLID chunk of bird. I am very impressed. His talons are insane.

Question: My friend has hatchery Buff Orps. I brought her 2 of my BOs that I got from a breeder. Her BOs are a deep deep orange and most of them have huge combs (well I thought they were roosters- but they are laying eggs lol). My BOs have a soft buttery orange, looser feathers and the hens virtually NO comb. Will mine get more orange and larger combs? Or is that one of the differences between hatchery and breeder quality? Her hens are are maybe 4-6 weeks older than my big girls (about 22 weeks old for my big girls).

Hello All!

I live in auburn, Ca and I am new here. I have been looking around for a while, but decided it was finally time to start posting!
My 3 chickens are 13 weeks old, and 2 are roosters! Ack. Anyone have tips in the Northern CA area of who will take my roosters and where to find similar age pullets? I've been searching and posting on craigslist with only a little bit of luck.

Thanks for everyone's help and I look forward to learning more and getting to know everyone!

welcome to Byc and the thread. I have not had any issues offing roosters. I post them free on Craigslist and Eldorado Exchange on facebook. Placer county may have one similar.
As far as finding pullets. You may want to keep 1 of your roosters as a companion to the hen. seeing how it is best to keep newbies seperated a few weeks you can widen your age search some. a few weeks plus or minus. let them see each other so they get used to each other.

Welcome cthompson.
I am too far to be much of a help to you. You will get alotof enjoyment & quite an education onchickens here.
Ron,
I saw your earlier post & that is what prompted me to post about processing. I sooooooo need to do that more. I am busy making several greens trays but I have a long way to go to serve all my pens.....LOL Julie,MrsMoonCat, from Madera (you met her at the party is going to come up & we are going to make a bunch for her to take home. She has a bunch of trays from something else that we are going to repurpose. I love recycling & the nice thing about doing ityourself you csn custom them to fit any container.
Mario & Shantih do Black Soldier Flies & I am going to try those too as soon as I can get my act together. I just don't know what I do with all my time.....LOL. I never seem to get enough done in a day. I must be gettingold huh???.....LOL

Yeah. I'll keep trying craigslist. Yes. Only one of the two are crowing, so he is the one I need to get rid of ASAP. I'm sure the other will start as soon as Charlie (our top dog) is out, but since they are only 14 weeks, we may have a little while longer to find some other ones and get the whole gang used to each other.
Thanks again for all the advice.

Hello and welcome! I'm just up the hill from you. (in Colfax)

Echo Valley Feed in Auburn will take roosters and rehome them. They do inspect for lice/mites (due to some people bringing in infested birds), so make sure they are clean.
Neither of my boys like sports. Both are active though. They prefer hiking, nature walking and doing man chores (weeder, mower etc) and working with tools. So by no means inactive just not into sports at all. That's awesome he is doing so well with school!
Same with my son. He's active, just not a sports kid.
