Ron, I got Ultra Kibble today from TSC in Shasta lake. They just stocked up today. I grabbed 2 bags of both UK for chicks and the regular kind.

I use a 3 quart feed scoop. It says 1:7 ratio. That's means 1 scoop of UK to 7 scoops of regular feed?
And can I just mix it with feed grains and scratch instead of regular layer crumble?

I want to offer them this as a supplemental feed in a trough feeder in the morning. And just have their regular feed I'm hanging feeders.

Glad everyone is having a good chicken day!

I just got a new flock of Basques yesterday from Papabrooder! I've been seriously preoccupied with them enjoying their beauty. It's a mixed flock of all ages andexes so I should have a pretty good start on picking good breeders. D I still have a brooder full of them!

My pastures are FINALLY greening up!! It makes being outside a lot more enjoyable when there is not a blan view of brown dry grass.

Taking a break from building Pens. I'm wondering how many ill end up with.
So far my breeds that will be in breeding pens are...

Euskal Oiloa Basques
Blue orpington
Lavender orpington
Gold Laced Brahma
Silver laced Brahma
Buff Brahma

I'm thinking 15 breeds and 20 pens.

The ratio is by weight not volume. Use a scale since ultra kibble if very light in weight.

The ratio depends on what grain you are mixing with ultra kibble. If the protein content of the feed is more than 10-12%, you can mix 1 to 10.

They love ultra kibble.

I would weigh what each scoop holds and the match it to the ratio. For me, it's something like 4 grain to one kibble.

You can also mix by bag--50# bag of wheat or oats and 1 to 1.5 # of Ultra kibble, depending on the protein in the grain. I use a kitchen scale.

What does SOP mean? Show quality? Heaven Sent Ranch has some. I got mine from her and they are drop dead gorgeous. Giant and fluffy.

Anyone want a splash silkie rooster? His name is Mr. Puff! I would be willing to give him to anyone on this thread if you want to pick him up. At least that way, he'd have a good home. I've been planning to post him on Craigslist for $15 but thought I'd offer him here first (free).

I bought the BBS eggs from Sheri Minkner in Lincoln. He hatched in my incubator on April 6, so he is almost 7 months old. He has correct toes, wings, etc. The only fault is his single comb, poor guy -Otherwise, he would be perfect for showing. I've been told by several silkie breeders that the single comb is recessive so he is at least breeder quality. Oh, and he loves the ladies. I planned to do some test hatches with him, but Mysty Blue won't let the boys mate her. Plus, Mysty Blue is very tiny and I'm afraid Mr. Puff could hurt her.

Jason, you have to hit bare skin, like with a dog. Under the wings and around the vent are the easiest spots.

Yup. This is what we did. We nailed under the wing. If there are 2 people and you do it at night it goes super fast. I grabbed the chicken, raised the wing and my husband put the drops under the wing. We would put that chicken in the run and shut the door. And keep doing that until we were done with all the chickens and then we had to herd them back into the coop. lol They were confused but it took about 10 minutes or so to do 26 chickens. I know some people prefer the water but it just seemed faster for us to do it this way. I am glad there are 2 ways to do it though. If you have a lot of birds- watering would be the best way. LOL
