Love the picture. My what big healthy Chickens you have ...

I have a question....I mentioned the testosterone driven Bully Brothers the other day, that are terrorizing the hens. Well, I have them in my grow out pen which is only 4'x12'. I opened it to the shared run with the big coop, closed the door to the big coop but opened the top to the external laying boxes so the hens could still get in to lay eggs but not be raped by the boys.

One of the Bully Bros immediately flew into the fencing and flip over the top on a lucky jump to get a hen so letting them out unsupervised for the day didn't work and is too much to ask of my parents who will be taking care of the animals while we're in Hawaii next week, to do everyday....so I'm wondering if this is too little of space for the boys to spend in for the week we're gone or is it sufficient? I'm a free ranger except the Polish but even they have a huge pen area, so it seems too small to me, but the only other option is to let them out and hope the hens don't get locked out at night when my parents close them up. My parents go to bed pretty early so the chickens need to be ready for bed as early as possible and three of the hens are hiding until they think its safe to go in. Luckily I figured that out before I went in the house and I went back to let them in.

Just wanted to say hi. I'm in Roseville and am a first-time chicken owner. Just got 6 bantams and a little backyard coop. :) They're about 4 months old and pretty cute. Glad to find this site. I'm typically on COTH (horse forum) and now have another forum to take up all my time!
welcome to byc

Well after a long day of looking...No Luck! I feel awful .. I can't find my beautiful Brown Orpington anywhere

she had the cutest little fluffy butt! I was getting so excited to breed her... I will still be able to breed the chocolate rooster with the black Orpington hen. I will still get chocolate chicks... But it really sucks she is missing. Thank God I keep one of the Black hens. I will continue to look tomorrow .... I didn't see and signs of feathers....I'm not holding out much hope.

Should be fine size wise for the 2 boys.

Has anyone used Calf Manna as a supplement? The creator of my lavender marans (and a few others) have told me to use it.
Yep! I've been using it for several years. I mix a small portion of the pellets in the chickens' feed. It works nicely for their feather quality.
