Hi I'm in the high desert area in apple valley and I'm brand new to byc I'm looking for some pullets and I'm at a loss as to where I can find some. I'm looking for silkies, orpintons, Australorps or any hearty laid back good laying breeds. Thank you.

carleebean, Come to the chicken meet-up in Pomona on the 31st of May, you will FOR SURE go home with some hens! You can PM me for more info OR you can PM carriebain :D

I am in north San Diego and have wyandottes, MArans and Ameraucana Pullets available.

Ok just saw where apple valley is!

I will be in LA on Wednesday morning......

What color are your Ameraucana pullets (not EEs).

We absolutely adore our Blue Wheaten - she is the kookiest spookiest sweetest most talkative girl in the flock. Not even a year old and she's been laying 2.25-2.5 ounce pastel blue eggs. She isn't SQ as her legs are pale but we wouldn't trade her for any other breed. We thought our White Leg was a terrific layer but this Ameraucana has a better personality, lays just as much, and gives blue eggs as a bonus! I was looking for gentle breeds to mix with bantam Silkies and she's had the best temperament so far. We've re-homed a Marans and the White Leg who got aggressive toward the Silkies but kept the Ameraucana.

OurFlyBabies.com says they keep Ameraucanas because they will adopt orphaned chicks or injured birds into their flock where other breeds are not so friendly. Our girl lives up to the reputation and is friendly with all flockmates and submits to the two alpha Silkie matrons! She's not the least bit political about pecking orders. She can get vocal if spooked by noises or flapping tarps or people that walk into the yard and in that sense she's as good as a watchdog. I had two Ameraucana sisters but one died shipped to me underweight, with lice, and probably needed worming long before being shipped. Will not go that route again but still I'm glad we got one Ameraucana survivor from the shipment!

Don't need another Ameraucana now but would like to keep you on my list for future Amer pullets if you are a breeder.

Is there a list of breeds coming to the Pomona meet-up or should we just keep watching this thread for what people are bringing?
