Also, just throwing it out there... I'm looking for a combination of 3-4 pure ameracauna or cream legbar (anything with BLUE BLUE eggs) and Copper marans (blue, splash, wheaten, anything).
I'd like chicks but would be up for pullets too. Anyone know where I can get these?
There's a really nice woman in Riverside that might. She posts hatching eggs on Craigslist sometimes. Check under Inland Empire

I hatched five Ameraucana chicks this spring and was hoping I'd have hens to sell. Only two are pullets. Now I have a blue & two black Ameraucana roo's that need homes. They are 22 weeks. I'm in the heart of Los Angeles so I cant keep them. Such a bummer :(

i am looking to see if anyone is interested in a trade 2 bantam roo,s mix and a oegb hen for fertile bantam eggs i am looking for any fertile eggs or bantam hens breed does not matter but would prefer silkies, seramas, oegb, japanese bantam, quail an pheasants

If anybody in So Cal is looking for a silkie Roo I've got a few looking for new homes! They are 4-5 months old .... I have a Beautiful Blue, White & Black Partridge Silkie Roosters...

The Black Partridge with a cream neck who just started crowing. He is a
very handsome fella but a bit of a scaredy cat as he grew up with some BOSSY
lavender Orpington Hens. He is very gentle but shy but he struts around the
coop to impress his girls. I also have a lovely White boy with a very punk rock
spikey hairdo... He is gentle and reserved (due to Bossy Lav Orps). Lastly I
have a PQ Blue boy he is a bit smaller then the Partridge even though they were
hatched at the same time. He has a single comb and is a brave spunky little
fellow. The white is a month older then the other 2.... and came from a breeder in Ventura County and the
other 2 came from Catdance's eggs.

I am willing to drive a little ways to meet you and I can probably get these
boys a ride up to Paso Robles..... I would love to find them a good forever
home!!! If you are interested please PM me ... and if you'd like pictures I
can go out and take a few.

Hi all,

New to urban chicken farming and living in Los Angeles County. Have five young pullets, all from "Chickens Galore" in Norco (advertises on craigslist). We chose this hatchery since they had chicks ready to go outside and the guy who runs the place was responsive and helpful. His chicks run from day-old to five months+ old. All hens healthy so far (it's been two months) and tolerated the recent heat wave well. Waiting now for them to lay eggs!

Am wondering what those of you in LA/Riverside County find to be your worst predators and how you predator-proofed your coop? One of our chicks was killed by an opossum, but we've now (hopefully) secured the coop pretty well.

Also, what do you do for odor control? Our coop is smallish and inside a dog run, so not really enclosed. We've been using Sweet PDZ, a vinegar spray, and removing waste every day, but always looking for other ideas to keep the smell down. Even though chickens are allowed in our city, I'm trying to be inconspicuous sound and smell-wise. Thanks!

for odor control i use pine shaving but cant seem to get rid off most of the flys and my predators i have are neighborhood cats and hawks that visit my yard for time to time
