Been up all night looking at property auctions. My 24 yr old, Makayla's mom showed up about 12:30 with her bags. Another fiance bites the dust! Oh well, she'll meet another half wit soon. She always does. I never give her my opinion any more, I just wait to see how long they each last. LOL

Wish I knew California better. I spent most of my live in the Bay Area and rarely went far, so trying to figure out where everything is is driving me crazy.

Looking forward to slow relaxing day & hope to get a few chicken chores done. Need another trip to Harbor Freight for more tarps for sides of the cyclone pens but they are propably closed today. So many stores are. I know the rains will have to start soon. I can't believe how dry it has been.
Can't believe it is 2012 already

I took pics of my chicks yesterday and was working on their Flicker album this morning. My husband walks in and says he's never seen anyone so into chickens. He's obviously never seen BYC!

Happy New Years fellow Californians!!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I've been out of the loop for the past month. We had out of state company coming for Christmas and decided to do a little remodeling before they came. We retiled our kitchen and refinished our wood floors. What a job! It should have only been 2 weekends worth of work but ended up taking us a month. We started before Thanksgiving and really are not completely finished yet. We need to seal the granite tile and replace the baseboards in the kitchen. We were without water in the kitchen for 2 weeks and without furniture in the whole front of the house for another 2 weeks. We put the furniture back in the day before company arrived. Then Christmas was crazy with all of our kids, their spouses, their kids, my dad and his wife, and my sister, her husband, & her two daughters. We had over 20 people in the house Christmas day and our house is small. It was wild! I'm still trying to recover and get my life back to normal, whatever that is!

I have Kayla and Vanessa here sick and Dakotah just called from my daughter's and he's sick. I can't drive my car till I can get it in the shop and get someone to do somethig with it. Trying to hunt down my oldest grand daughter to see if she'll get him home. Just what I need. A bunch of pukie people and I'm starting to fell bad too. We sure know how to party and bring in the New Year around here.

On a good note, I have 30 Bev Davis eggs that should be here next week or week after. Karen I'll probably be able to pick that cockerel up as soon as my car is done and I'm feeling better. I'm trying to keep a couple steps ahead of whatever this is. Hope I can do it. I want to use the cockerel and whats left of my Davis girls and try to get a few more chicks out of them before they all leave me.

My plan today was to start on the hoop coops. Looking around this house I should try to pick it up instead. Looks like an explosion happened. Never seen so many piles of things in my life. That and I HATE dark carpet. It shows everything! So glad I went out last night and filled waterers and feeders. I doubt I'll have the energy today.

Karen, how much are tarps at Harbor Freight? I love that place. I saw some a lot closer to home the other day at Cresent, but I didn't write down prices and just can't remember. Wish I could get my hoop coops taller, but not even going to try. I tried gluing PVC together for a smal one once and right now it's covering the back of a coop that's not finish. The whole thing fell apart, so at least it was useful for something. LOL

I think we need a show thread. Anyone else think so?
 
I just ran out to check the birds and I can't find Clyde anywhere! Three of the cockerels and got out last night and then he pushed past me, now he's not here. What is it about my AM roos that they keep disappearing? I don't know if a hoop coop would keep them any safer. This is frustrating.

I did find an egg though. It's green so not sure if it's from my older OE or one of the pullets. Haven't seen an egg since Big Bird stopped laying.

I'm going to go check around some more before I get really sick and can't. He's always the first one to come running and bug me.
 
Clyde has serious issues. I found him. He's...............ok get this one. Sitting on 2 eggs. I have no idea how old those eggs are. The only birds I have that lay white or cream egg (LF that is) are my Games and I have all the girls in with a roo. These things could be from summer. But he's sitting on them! Bit the begebus out of my hand when I drug him out a ran back in. He's even throwing weeds on his back! I knew he was weird, but BROODY????

I haven't figured out who laid the green egg. Shady is no more red in the comb and face then the other 3 who would lay green. At least who I hope will. I'm just now getting some things cleaned up out there. I figure since I'm moving I might as well clean till I drop.

Broody roo. Who'd a thunk?
