Well, I should have just held off, to be honest. The baby isn't ready to come out and still has some absorbing to do, so I followed the proper assisted hatching guide (https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching) and will keep following it. It's back in the incubator and just needs to finish up absorbing the veins and yolk. As for other duckling, still nothing. I'm fearing the worst but I'm not giving up hope yet.
It hasnt internally pipped.... It hasnt moved at all. Any reason why this should be happening. Amy has done everything right. Is it my genetics? I bought all mine from the second biggest breeder in the country so his genetics should be good? Why do they keep dying but they have the right conditions? You might want to candle the other because if it has internally pipped but not able to pip externally he will need a safe hole

Eeeeeeeeee, what color is the tonguelet? Sweet little life form of preciousness. This is exciting. Looking forward to his/her breakout.I JUST SAW TINY DUCK TONGUE!![]()
He is keyoot. Love the pic with his open bill. I have never seen a ducklet so yellow before. Keep us posted on his navel.Since we all love pics, I thought I'd throw out a few of my 4th and final one to hatch. It pipped just below the air cell, beak was hanging out the hole for a long time. But luckily, I could usually see inside the hole and hear it peeping, so I kept my distance and my fingers crossed. I went through Sally Sunshine's assist post, and my Storey's Guide, and decided I would wait 48 hours before helping, if he was still in distress. So... I went to work this morning, couldn't get a darn thing done from worrying, so I came home and he had made it out on his own. About 41 hours from the time it broke the shell. I'm guessing at the time, based on how dry and fluffy he was by the time I got home. Anyway, here's my little Opie. (He does have a bit of navel popped out, so I'm praying its not infected!) Swedish ducks, by the way, not Calls. I might try my hand at Calls some day.![]()
