Call Ducks Finally Hatched

With the economic down trend and the drought we are facing, it is getting harder to be able to afford the more specialty foods, like game bird feed. In a tight budget situation my local feed store owner told me that turkey food is as good as game bird feed, and much less expensive. Also mixing in scratch lowers the feed costs, and lowers the calcium level.

I have also found mixing game bird starter with chick starter seems to make the chicks and ducklings up and running sooner.

I am sure that we all do the best by our ducks according to how far our finances can stretch. They are like part of our families. I know that I joined this forum because not many people understand the joy my ducks bring me. I really believe that everyone here also experienced that love and joy as well. All of you are amazing people, and I am happy to be part of this amazing group of duck enthusiasts.

Very well stated, Dianne1928. I don't own ducks but get so much joy from these forums and the folks and am able to express my love and obsession for ducks and be accepted.

I d
I dropped it 3 feet onto my bed with fluffy blankets. It wasnt scrarey at all.

They also have sharp little toe nails that get stuck on the lining in the brooder. I clipped a tiney piece from each nail, so now it didn't get stuck now. The webbing is very thin between the toes.

YOU have them too? OMG, Am I the only person who doesn't have them??? LOL I feel so left out. the webbing, are they so thin it's easy for them to get hurt? If it's so thin then why are they able to climb trees without slicing there feet up?

Lol. That's why I said my bed. He said about 6' would be fine. I figured that wouldn't be that bad onto a bed

When you drop them, do they make ANY kind of noise? I mean do they have to make a certain sound like a Squeek so that you know it worked? Or you just drop them and hope for the best?

THAT WAS REALLY SWEET....

Now I have read several places, scratch is nothing but a waste of feed, it does absolutely nothing for them. Of course, I don't always believe what a read, if I did, I should have gotten this hatching call ducks down a lot sooner then I did. LOL

I don't know why. Just an observation while clipping the nails. I know that when they grow up the webbing gets thicker.
