Call Ducks Finally Hatched

.. . Anyway I love the breed and all of those ducklings on here are SOOO cute .

SO TRUE.

But not a good reason to get ducks, because they do grow up.

I have many ducks and used to own some ( so I know ) I actually have some west indies/Cayuga /Rouen ducklings hatching right now

yeah and if I can't get magpie from them I'll find somewhere else to get the magpie calls

This is one of my favorite black and white hens Another of my black and white hens with a blue splash drake (he's for sale, I think he is infertile). A little too big for what I want in my breeding program anyways. But still pretty to look at! Some of the group. I have 5 blue penciled pieds (3 drakes and 2 hens), 4 black and white "ancona" hens, 2 blue and white "ancona" hens, the blue splash drake, a quad of whites, and a quad of silkies (kept separate from the rest of my calls so they remain pure during breeding season) This girl lays an egg in the water dish almost every single day
Hey I totally missed this. Are you still selling your splash drake?? If so SEND HIM TO ME.

This isnt about ducks, but... I was hatching chickens for my big sister and only two out of 11 made it to hatch day and hatched. One of them won't make it. He hatched with a hole in the top of his beak and hasn't eaten or drank and when I try to get him to drink, he acts like he's choking, looks like its dry heaving almost. :(

Being flock animals, will the healthy chick make it alone? My husband will flip if we have to buy chicks to keep him company :/

I have a question for you all...
One of my call ducklings is just over 4 weeks, and I have noticed that as her/his wing feathers are coming through they are pointing out wards, so I am thinking slipped/angel wing. I have read that you have to tape them up, but when do I do this and does anyone have any experience of this? Thank you

There are lots of articles and threads here discussing angel wing, I suggest you do a search and read up on it. One member had bad luck with traditional wraps but found that cutting up some nylon stockings and slipping them over the duck worked like a charm! There are also some nutritional supplements that are supposed to help, but I can't remember offhand, sadly. :/

As far as when, do it IMMEDIATELY. The longer it's left untreated the worse it gets and the higher the risk of it becoming permanent.
