I had 12 Call Duck eggs but only 2 hatched. The other 10 had thick shells and very tough membranes. What did I do wrong?
I kept the eggs at 99.9F the entire time. Humidity at 60 increased to 70 the last 5 days. Automatic turner. I sprayed the eggs each day with warm water.
The first duckling hatched one day early. The next pipped at day 24. After 24 hours,he still could not break enough of the egg to hatch. I pulled a little piece off at his beak to allow him room to continue the hatch. He hatched out in 6 hours. None of the other eggs pipped.
Egg shells very hard. Membrane like leather.
The 2 hatchlings doing well.
The book I have says 55% humidity. What do you suggest? And yes, I sprayed the eggs each day. Should I not spray them?
Next time I will definitely not spray.
Thanks for your help.
