Perhaps I should get a pic of his daughter because she said "if he was Mauve, every hen would hatch out a chocolate base'. And his daughter HAS NONE.
The proof is in the progeny, lol. Just went thru this with peafowl.

I Hear youI consider myself a fairly intelligent person, but I swear these bird genetics thoroughly confuse me sometimes!!

WHEW OMG, YOU JUST ABOUT GAVE ME A HEARTATTACK, i was getting ready to REAM someone out. HAHAHHAHAHthat's lavender, not mauve.
So like his Daughter, Looks exactly like him, She would have the lavender gene now right so what if I breed her with Dad? Is that to close to inbreeding? because the only other Color I could hook her up with is a black silkie..Lavender is a recessive which mean you'd have to have 2 birds that are carrying lavender (whether it be pure lavender or lavender splits) in order to produce more lavenders. If you have produced another lavender, then one of your hens is carrying lavender.
lol. Don't ream! You got lavender which is what you were told. I've only seen 2 or 3 people with silkies that carry chocolate and they are still in the rough project stages!WHEW OMG, YOU JUST ABOUT GAVE ME A HEARTATTACK, i was getting ready to REAM someone out. HAHAHHAHAH
