Calling all Hmong (black meat) chicken breeders

@Ms Biddy
My chicks came out great shape and coloring, so they are very big now at 3 months old. I just sold 3 of them already. I have 3 left, a red/orange and black cockerel, a silver cockerel, and a yellow pullet that I have left. They all have fibro faces, skins, toes, and underwing. I have 10 newly hatch about 2 weeks ago and I started to make more room for them.

@Chang1993 thanks for the update. Do you have pictures of them at 3 mos so we can see how they grew? Mine are growing too.

On comparison at 3 months old, they are too wild and they were almost the size of the father. Maybe the daughter will the father size and son might be bigger. Let see when they are fully grown.

That's a good size for 3 mos. I've been told 3/4 Hmong and 1/4 Thai is a good ratio because the gamefowl influence is strong. I plan to hatch some more eggs soon.

I just have some hatch by my 1/2 hmong 1/2 thai hen. I actual believe what you been told. For 15 years of me breeding them, I have the ratio of more white than black. If I breed them back to the Hmong, I will have more black than white, so a difference between the two. During my next year I will bred them back to the Hmong to get more black than white.

Here is mine. I'll keep hatching from this line and see what else I get, hopefully a few that I can work with. I really enjoy them though and they are just for eating so I like that they are mixed.

Your birds looks better than mines. They have the single comb like the hmong, but the body and shape are like the thai. Mines have more thai in them instead because the father is a black skin landrace cross.

Most of mine have faults. Those are the two best. I prefer pea combs but every Hmong person I've talked to says single combs are preferred. I'm fine with either as long as growth and body type are good.

The Thai Hmoob chicks are fun but they're kind of wild. This one was extremely mean and tried to kill the other chicks starting at just 3 wks. I didn't keep him.

I mostly slaughter or sell the aggressive one out of my flocks. They tend to go really fast at 3 to 4 month. I like the single comb more, but when comes the size, I don’t really care about wether it’s pea or single. Maybe sometimes around I might have a few single comb popping up.
