did you mean May??? hehehehe

Im in for all of them I think???

Woops! Yep.

Well, I'm gonna have to fall in a little late as my eggs won't be here till a week from today but I've already got my Brinsea setup, adjusted etc... so I'm ready.

OK, I,d like to join you guys but ,I have a question. My pullets/hens? will be a year old in April/May. At what age can I collect their eggs(there is a rooster in with them, hatched at the same time) and expect to be able to hatch chicks. Anxiously waiting for you answers as I will order my brinsea before they are no longer on sale! Thanks soo much!!

Now, I would guess, as long as they have #1 - started laying regular-sized eggs, not those smaller pullet eggs as they start to lay, and #2 - you can see that most of the eggs are fertilized when you crack 'em open.

You know what a fertile egg looks like, right, with the "bulls-eye" on the yolk?

I posted this on another thread but thought you all might be interested on how stacking works in a Brinsea ECO.

I usually get about 28-30 eggs in my eco. I lay some on top/stacking. I always have a few eggs that just don't develop so I take those out and rotate the ones on top. That way I get nearly full hatches each time

Here's a picture from last year. I use a wad of wax paper at the end of the row to stabilize the eggs standing up. The stacked eggs are on top of that. They are all LF eggs.

plus I edited my spelling errors on this post

Chicken Stalker, lovely visual aide! Ok so do you put them on the turner cradle like that? Do those eggs laying on the side stay put when the turner is at it's highest tilt?? I am dying to know this.

yes, I have even stacked eggs in between the rows. Put the lid on and carefully tilt (roll it like you are manually turning the eggs) to see if and move. If one move just put a little wade of wax paper between it and the top to steady it. I have need broken an egg yet from sliding...knock on wood. During the winter months is when I stack to most because I know there are more eggs that won't develop to to the cold temps. I have put 3 dozen LF eggs in before. I also had one that hatched on top because the incubator was full. They all did just fine. Got to think it's pretty cramped under a broody also.
