Calling All New Brinsea Owners!!! February Hatch-a-long... PRIZES!!!

My fan got all gummed up with chick fuzz. Take a can of "canned air" the kind used to clean computer and electrical equipment. Spray it in the top part and try to get all the dust out of it. I think I am going to have to do that every time I clean my bator. It gets dusty up by the fan.

Yeah I took the plastic cover off and vacuumed it out after my New Years Hatch. I gave it a few shots of canned air before I set this batch but it looks like I may have to vacuum it out each time....it's almost two years old and has had many batches in it, so it maybe just starting to wear. I checked it this morning and everything sounded fine and the temps were spot on....may have been a fluk in the fan. It may be a day or two delayed in this hatch. They are due the 22nd. Only time will tell.

Haha my other half are brown too and I couldn't tell either... but the blue ones were EASY to see!!! Tons of veining and blobs!

Daisy, that wins the Blue Ribbon for practical, helpful advice for the day! Canned air to clean the fan! These incubators get exposed to stuff no matter how quick we move the biddies to brooders and its just not easy finding ways to deal with it all, EVERYONE NEEDS TO REMEMBER TO SPRAY OUT YOUR FAN AND HEATING AREA WITH CANNED AIR! gREAT SOLUTION TO EXTENDING THE LIFE OF AN INCUBATOR!

Thanks to Daisychick!

Better late than never. I set 64 LF Cochins, 4 Lav Ameraucanas, 2 B/B Ameraucanas on Sunday in the new Brinsea 190. Temps are good, but having difficulty with the humidity pump maintaining a high enough humidity.

I candled my eggs today (Day 10) with my little girls and two of their friends. Although I only check 4-5 of the 9--short attnetion spans, those little ones, you know!--in each one that I was able to see through I saw a definite blog bigger than the regular yolk would be and in most I could see veining. The blue/green eggs were very difficult to see though, but I think I saw blobs in those too. I'm gonna give them a couple more days until I candle again and do it on my own so I have more time to look!

So excited for new baby chickies!

Set mine on Sunday should hatch the last weekend of the month.

Brinsea Eco

20 eggs - Speckled Sussex, BBS Ameraucana, Buckeye.

Had a spike of 101F for a day, but everything seems stable on day 2-3.

So I will be later than all of you.

I've had great results and need to buy another one. You can never have too many chicks around.
