My Lav Ams and BLRW are in lockdown today! I think only 1 of the 5 BLRW is developing but none are stinking so I left them all in. I think almost all of the Ameraucanas look good. Guess we'll see what happens in a couple of days.

ETA; I thought better of it and recandled the eggs and I cracked open the BLRW eggs that I wasn't sure about and lo-and-behold non had chicks. Now I don't have to worry about exploding eggs.

Today is the first day of lockdown. Now it's time to get the brooder ready!

Hopefully the hatch goes well, my girls are really excited to have new baby chicks to love on! And of course, I am too!

I'm bummed. I'm going to have to bow out of the Feb hatch. I only had 7 BLRW eggs in there and we candled last night on day 10, and 6 of them were clear and only one was developing. I think I have a broody hen, so I'm going to give her the one egg that's developing and start over collecting eggs for the bator. Maybe March?

The biddies are only 4 days old & starting to feather out. I need to get them out of the brooder ASAP. I need to hatch more.

I'm guessing we should start seeing some action any day now. Day 21 happens to be this Friday the 18th

! The whole house in on alert! It's so funny the kids (11 and 8 years old) are getting incubating books from the school library and printing from the computer everything they can find pertaining to incubating! By now all their teachers know we are incubating eggs lol. It amazes me how much they love doing this! Everyone with children should try hatching eggs! Thanks BYC community for getting my family addicted!
