calling all wild bird feeders!!

Pics
Wow a few days an no new bird reports??

We, I have one finally. I had about 40 gold flinches at the feeder this morning, Which is great, but the best part is spring is coming, the males were turning yellow, that new color look they get.

I was so excited to see it considering it is below zero still.

Isn't there a saying if you see yellow on the Gold Finch there is only 6 months of winter left???

BTW I am so ready for winter to end also.

Me too. I am hoping this is it for the winter down here. March 15 is our average last frost date. We have 70s forecast next week.

Our average low for today is 15 degrees, today I woke to 20 below..............

But on the good side, The finches are back filling their little bellies...

I just wish the rose breasted Grosbeaks would show.

I came back this morning to a hawk fluffed out and perched directly above one of the finch feeders...here birdie birdie - tried to get a photo but a bit too far. Larger hawk -think sharp shinned. I need to start feeding the crows some peanuts to get them around.

Other birds to be reported - a large flock of robins. We are holding them here to prevent spring from arriving anywhere in the continental US. No goldfinches so no spring here either this week.

Well, few Wood Peckers, today (kind of odd). However, the snow (all day & probably continuing all night  ) brought in more than the usual number of customers. Another "window" casualty (keeping curtains closed on sliding glass door does no good) that required about 5 minutes of recovery time: Bird "shooting" "blind" (with assistant): Tufted Titmouse (like to cadge stray seed on deck as they can't compete on feeders).. During the summer, as it's getting dark, these guys will gang up in trees I'm walking under & raise hades.
