My Dad used to fry up okra and it smelled so bad I'd leave the house lol. One thing he did make that I've never found the recipe for is flour bread cooked in a cast iron skillet. It was about 3/4" thick and very good.
Speaking of heights, I've never had much luck with gardens as I would forget them. This year I planted some tomato seeds from
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds from Mansfield, MO. They ended up in some ~3 gallon planters and one is 7' tall and the rest are 6' tall. I got a very late start planting. I was visiting my neighbor and she was showing me a pair of raised beds with a cattle panel arch and man that looked nice so I built one and ran to the store to get what ever I could put in it that late in the season. All I can say is regular tomato cages are a waste of time they are much too short.
