Campine Chicken thread?

Brissy - no need to test for gender, that's a pullet (girl) One of the cool things about Campines, both Golden and Silver, is that you can sex them very early. The little cockerels start combing up (and even crowing) as early as two to three weeks of age.

That is great news. I have 0 experience with campines. She's constantly fighting with the maran boy (who's 2weeks older) and winning. She starts all the fights in the coop. are all campines like this? She's I so beautiful and I can't get over how lucky I am. I was given 3 dozen cross breed eggs to incubate I only set 6 and out of those 3 hatched and she was one. She had very recently set up a campine pen but it was too early for them to be pure so I ended up with a couple of eggs in the mix. I didn't know which they were.

They were the pretty white ones....

Oh so cute iakones

Well DNA test says male. Sad day I will have to get rid of the little guy. I'm in a no rooster zone.

It looks like my silver campine roo had some visits with a buff orpington hen or two (he can easily clear the 6' fence). I have at least 4 crosses like this. Wonder what they'll look like....

6 of the 7 campine eggs hatched. I see at least 3 Roos and 2 girls, the last one I'm unsure of.

Thanks, it was a fluke and I'll buy some eggs when I move to a more rural setting. Hubby caught the little guy trying to crow today. It's barely 2 months old!!! Wow! He really has to go now. I've just dropped the price to get him out.
