Campine Chicken thread?

Some full grown Campines from early january 2015.
Nice in size, and pure white necks.
Rooster is distinctly barred.

Remarks:
Rooster has a bit of downy bottom, whitish tailfeathers and one whiter sickle, too much red in the ear lobes and comb heel could be rounder.
Hen's barring could be better.

I would add...

short, curved beak
dark, prominent eyes
barring high on the breast (on the hen, but could be better on the rooster. I find that having both clear hackles and barring on the front neck and throat is nearly impossible)
wings tucked high and tight.
flat backs
good barring in the tail feathers

I would like to see a rounder breast carried more forward. These birds seem substantial through the body, just a bit of tweaking for type would make them even better. I would also like to see a slight slope toward the tail and a less abrupt angle on the tail set.

NONE of these things have I perfected in my own birds! Please don't think I am being more critical of these birds than I am of my own. I am brutal when evaluating my own birds. I only mention these things (positive or negative) because it is what I look at when evaluating my own Campines.

No problem Wisher, I feel just the same.

I have other Campines that are much worse than these, but I like them just the same. Just for egg laying and points on character, although according to APSA-lines there right chopping block material

The only way we can improve each other Campines is by being honest and frank, which has nothing to do with how much you love your birds. Goes for all breeds of course.

I got a golden campine from a nearby hatchery this year. She came in an assortment. We thought she was a sicilian buttercup, but when she got a single comb, we knew she had to be a campine. She has such a quirky personality. Her name is Buttercup.

I waved bye to two crates full of my Silver Campines (7 pullets, and 4 cocks) this morning. They left in the back of a small car, headed to Massachusetts. I sent them to one of my breeder partners, Bob Rhodes. Does anyone here know him? He is 80 years young and has been raising standard bred poultry since he learned the ropes at his dad's knee. He started his line from hatchery stock and has been working with them for a few years longer than I. He gifted me with 2 cocks at the Ohio Nationals last year and I shared one with my other breeder partner in Texas. I was honored that he wanted some of mine and that he was impressed with my progress, so far.
