Can chicks peck/eat dried globe amaranth balls?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether it is ok to give dried globe amaranth balls (type of flower) to chicks to peck at? Well I think this is what the picture is.
I put one in their run and they absolutely loved pecking it, not sure if they ate any but they loved it.
Just want to check if this type of dried flower is ok for little chicks (3-4 weeks old) and older chickens as I would like to give more to them
