Can I borrow your incubator?- Oregon

I laugh at your silliness!! ONE hatch?! Muah HA HA!

We'll see... in the meantime, maybe I can help too. I really just want to be a part of this story.

I have an extra thermometer/hygrometer as well as a thermometer with a probe and water wiggler I would be happy to loan. They're not terribly expensive items, but if you REALLY are only going to do one hatch, it would be nice to save a little extra money for ice cream.

I think it's a wonderful idea to time a hatch around when your nieces come to visit. I think I will try to do the same thing. I have four nieces who all live in the Portland area and they LOVE their aunty Cham. What a cool thing it would be to do when they come to stay with me this summer.

I can get this stuff over to Tsa (if that's ok with her) and when you're done you can just box it up, and send it back down.

I'm just sick that all of you guys will be meeting behind the A&W and I won't be there for the fun though. How will you ever know each other? My suggestion is that you all wear chicken hats for easy identification.

PLEASE don't get politicians involved in this! If Obama shows up for a rootbeer float, then Hillary might think he's wooing her middle class American women. Bill will come snooping around to check out the women and the secret service will be all over the place, not to mention the media...and then poor Lemurchaser will get blamed for it all just because she wanted to borrow an incubator for ONE hatch!!

Chamelle: That sounds awesome. If I get it all back to you in mid-July is that early enough? I have a thermometer with a probe, but I figure with a still air incubator, the more, the better. Thanks for your help.

July is fine, and I'm so glad you already have a thermometer, because I was going to have to un-offer mine. I put it in my genesis last night, just to see if it was the same as my brinsea and it said 103! I trust the brinsea which said 99.8. I also trust the genesis not to be 103.

I do have a regular little non-digital brower that I'll send though, cuz you're right... extra is a good idea.

This is cool! What do you think Tsa? Do you mind adding even more to your load north?

hey...I WANT SOMETHING!!! but, I don't think I have room for any more chicks.

lemurchaser are you going to build another coop or are you going to part with some of your current birds?? you live so close, make sure you let me know. Oh, I want chicks!!!!

we need to have a chicken convention, we all live close enough!!!

Hey I have an idea...does anyone have a chicken tractor or coop they want to give/sell to me?? then I could have more! (shhhhhhhh! don't tell my husband though!!!!)

tsgirl, the chickies are doing AMAZING. you can see pictures of them on my blog, (in my signature) I just took more that I will have up soon too...you'll need to scroll down to get to them.

WrenAli- how are your chickies doing?? fattening up fast? have you tried to do business again with lazy 54 hatchery?

Chicken Convention yay! I would offer to hold it at my farm, about 5 min the other way from A&W, with a picnic lunch but the boyfriend would throw a fit.

John - apperantly my BF has had some bad experinaced with RIR in the past. So I would like to affirm that these are nice, tame, non-man eating chickens.

Or I would be totally up for another breed too.

Maybe you could paint them to look like another breed.

Bethany - They are doing wonderful. I lost 3, not sure how, I think they got to cold overnight due to the brooder's thermostat being off. I need to figure out how to adjust it.

The 13 I have left are fluffy and getting fat. All they do is run and eat. I put some sugar water and Electrolytes in the water the first 2 days, right after I lost the 3 and boy was that a mistake. I has super chicks on a super sugar high for 3 days after that. Things have finally calmed down though.

I haven't attempted to do anymore business with them yet. I want to see how these ones grow, compaired to my others before I order. So it will be another week or 2. Then I may see if the local hatchery has anything. If not I'll try Lazy54 again. Or maybe see if I can get some eggs and have some one hatch a batch for me.

Hi Bungaree, I loved seeing all the pics on your blog. I'm glad the older and younger ones are all getting along. The two from me were always the most accepting of new additions.

I'm not sure if I'm going to build a silkie coop, or just keep 2 of them in with what I have (and maybe rehome one or two of the existing chickens.) But I have all summer to figure it out.

WrenAli- sorry you lost some, I was wondering what I would do if I lost one, since there would just be one all alone and very lonely, so far all is great though. Glad to hear the rest of yours are doing well.

oh, I just put pictures of my two RIR that I got at the same time you got yours on my blog...they are cuties!

lemurchaser- you need to come see how the pullets you sold me have grown! and check out my setup. I have pics of them on the above blog as well.

They combined really well. I have heard so many horror stories...but the Partrigde Rocks have been incredible to the babes. they do peck them once if they get in the way of their food of water, but that is it. I am very happy, the PR are beautiful! Mine have really fattened up since I got them from you maybe more feathers or just in bulk..not sure, but they are looking more and more like chickens and not babies. I love them.

WrenAli,
If you make another order, would it be possible to add in 2 welsummer pullets for me? Also if you got some eggs in the next few weeks, I'd be happy to put them in with the batches I'm doing. I'll probably try to start one next weekend and one mid to late June.
