They love any kind.. mozzarella, cheddar, cottage cheese, cream cheese, cheese curds. They also love plain yogurt, but prefer the full fat kind, and sour cream.I'm sorry about your hen. What kinds of cheese?

They don't get excited about the sod of any of the plants, herbs and seeds I'm bringing them though..they peck at it and eat a tiny bit but is that a treat for them? They got excited about the fruit kale and mushrooms..I gave them about 5 tablespoons for all 5 of them, so 1 tablespoon a piece, 1 mushroom, one strawberry, one grape and a little kale, and put it in with their food and grit so they were eating the starter at the same time..
The side by side test is fun but hard with chickens..it seems to be which ever one the first one picks the rest go for.... I hate to break it to you, but chickens are not much smarter than a gold fish...
Also they are almost 6 weeks old so they are at the end of the period of high starter protein...
I can't get mine to take meal worms as easily as I get mine to take the fake ground hamburger dog and cat treats. I limit it, greatly except at shows because of the salt content. BUT they do go nuts for it. They watch me the entire time I am in the barn with them and know where I keep the hamburger....When I go that way they start going nuts...... ( my layer flock has no idea what the hamburger is even....)
They go crazy for millworms if you really want to see a reaction out of them.
You can make chicken cupcakes I can tell you if you want to know
Baby Chicks eat a lot ...as they are growing so fast ..They go crazy for millworms if you really want to see a reaction out of them.
Baby Chicks eat a lot ...as they are growing so fast ..
The chicken food is Specially Formulated to helping them grow up healthily..
Any treat you give them replaces this food they need to grow bones feathers muscles , Etc . Treats should be no more than 10 of a Adult chickens diet .
If you give babies treats they should be healthy .
Small pieces of fruit or grated raw vegetables ...as their crop and digestive systems are
small .
I KNow you love the little buggers ...and want to treat them ...but while they are still growing.. keep the treats way down ...they need the chick food most of all .
and scrambled egg should be okay
As this person lives in Australia ..I would think the chick food they get there is different than US Chick food . Im sure Scrambled eggs is fine for them..Think of a treat like a cookie...You want a treat ..just one cookie ...not 10 or 15I've come across people talking about it quite a few times now..but apparently the problem is the eggs being high in sulfer is hard on their livers, at the same time the medicated feed is hard on their livers, not that the feed is high in sulfer...?
