Can I give my 1 month 10 day old chicks a cupcake?

They don't get excited about the sod of any of the plants, herbs and seeds I'm bringing them though..they peck at it and eat a tiny bit but is that a treat for them? They got excited about the fruit kale and mushrooms..I gave them about 5 tablespoons for all 5 of them, so 1 tablespoon a piece, 1 mushroom, one strawberry, one grape and a little kale, and put it in with their food and grit so they were eating the starter at the same time..

They go crazy for millworms if you really want to see a reaction out of them.

The side by side test is fun but hard with chickens..it seems to be which ever one the first one picks the rest go for.... I hate to break it to you, but chickens are not much smarter than a gold fish...:lau

Also they are almost 6 weeks old so they are at the end of the period of high starter protein...

I can't get mine to take meal worms as easily as I get mine to take the fake ground hamburger dog and cat treats. I limit it, greatly except at shows because of the salt content. BUT they do go nuts for it. They watch me the entire time I am in the barn with them and know where I keep the hamburger....When I go that way they start going nuts...... ( my layer flock has no idea what the hamburger is even....)

No mine are Really smart! I just keep thinking how smart they are :) You should see them play keep away omgosh. I think I'm supposed to start mixing the starter feed with grower feed at 10 weeks and then fully to grower feed at 12..I don't know what the fake ground hamburger treat is but that's so cute that they know where you keep it and get so excited.. I just need to learn what they like and how often and how much I can give them of what ..like..5 chicks=how much scrambled egg..and how often..Thanks :)

Baby Chicks eat a lot ...as they are growing so fast ..
The chicken food is Specially Formulated to helping them grow up healthily..
Any treat you give them replaces this food they need to grow bones feathers muscles , Etc . Treats should be no more than 10 of a Adult chickens diet .
If you give babies treats they should be healthy .
Small pieces of fruit or grated raw vegetables ...as their crop and digestive systems are
small .
I KNow you love the little buggers ...and want to treat them ...but while they are still growing.. keep the treats way down ...they need the chick food most of all .
and scrambled egg should be okay

I agree it is manly for adult chickens but you can give couple for the chicks.

I've come across people talking about it quite a few times now..but apparently the problem is the eggs being high in sulfer is hard on their livers, at the same time the medicated feed is hard on their livers, not that the feed is high in sulfer...?

As this person lives in Australia ..I would think the chick food they get there is different than US Chick food . Im sure Scrambled eggs is fine for them..Think of a treat like a cookie...You want a treat ..just one cookie ...not 10 or 15
a small amount ..maybe a 1/2 teaspoon or less each .
.It should not be enough to replace their food ...
All chickens play Keep Away ...they are all competing for their food .
That is why a treat should be enough for everyone .
If you give them a choice ..like a child ..Do you want a cookie or a burger ?
Most will take the cookie ...instead of ..Not a healthy choice ..But okay once in a while

Sugar is really bad for chickens. I suggest vegetables for a treat, or plain yogurt with no sugar. Mealworms are good too, just don’t give them too many because it can make them fat. Chocolate is really bad for them, it could kill them. I personally wouldn’t feed them cupcake, and I suggest that you don’t either! Good luck finding yummy treats that your birds will enjoy!
