I have 8 week old chicks and have 4 more coming. Will there be many problems mixing these 2 groups of chicks because of the week age difference? Both groups are bantams of that says anything and while most are growing a few of them still seem simmilar size to when. I got them

I've had success mixing chicks up to a 3 weeks age difference. Some were noticeably larger/smaller. All you can do is try and if it becomes a problem, separate them. Good luck

Thanks! One of the chicks is a standard leghorn but it so nice with her bantam siblings shes actualy the nicest of them all. The bantams surprisingly will pick on her sometimes instead of the other way around its quite funnu

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Make sure your new chicks have their land legs under them so they aren't trampled by the older chicks. There will be a slight difference in temperature need. But they should be able to adjust closer or farther from the heat source.

At 1 week old there isn't much if any pecking order yet so you shouldn't have any issues.

Best wishes and post pics!

I have bantams and standards... their place in the pecking order seems to have more to do with personality than size.

You know, some chihuahuas are pit bull personalities.

If they're being shipped, I would take extra measures like Poulty Nutridrench in the water, and crushing the starter crumble a little extra. I just roll it under a cup.

There will some pecking order before, but it really starts to set around 3-4 weeks. Before that should be pretty easy integration.
