OIC, follow... yah they do that to. But in the same way you see a duck family crossing, yes that would be great!

Sometimes it happens with the really friendly lap cockerels. They don't fear or in their eyes respect you. I thought I was building trust, but turns out that isn't what a chicken sees. Once puberty or mating age hits, all bets are off.

What I should say is do you have previous rooster experience? Not all cockerels will be the same, each is an individual. But please beware that it is a possibility.

It's possible he will stay friendly. If I want to keep boys around as roosters, I know longer coddle them (I mean your guys is still young), but teach them to respect my space. They one boy that seemed so friendly has tried to pull hens directly out of my lap to mate them and also attacks the back of my leg and rushes me through the fence when I'm not directly facing him.

I truly don't believe he would do this were it not for our interactions up until someone was nice enough to give me this same basic info. He was my favorite.

Not a single one of his brothers or other boys I have ever have gone after me.

They do get to lookin' cross eyed at my dogs and have gone after them when playing Frisbee and landing nearby. It has come in different stages as they go though a few points of change before hitting 1 year or a little older, in my experience.

It could go either way. SO you will have to decide which makes sense to you as far the handling goes.

Bantams can be just as big of terrorist as a full grown cock, just with slightly smaller spurs. Can still be dangerous if small children are present, especially once they hit the actual protective of their harem phase.

But you've got a little time to do some research and lots info available here at BYC, and support from people who really wanna see the best for you and your animals. We all have different experiences and no one way is THE right way, except the way that works for you!

ETA: not trying to scare you off, I like roosters a lot. Especially a good one! It's a lot of fun to watch them serenade the ladies, drop their wing and do a little shuffle dance.

We only want to keep 1 or 2 roosters and are chicks are. Straight run so were not sure how many well get We will. Most likely keep the most docile and someone. Nearbye owns a. Chicken breeding sanctualry so they may want some roos...

As i speak they are playing outdoors so adorible.

I read they can be sexed by the lenght of there wimg feathers is this true?

I have 8 week old chicks and have 4 more coming. Will there be many problems mixing these 2 groups of chicks because of the week age difference? Both groups are bantams of that says anything and while most are growing a few of them still seem simmilar size to when. I got them

Somehow I am getting along great with adding 3, three week old Barred Rocks along with 4 Rhode Islands around two weeks of age to my Buff Orpingtons and so far so good. I expect things to get more difficult though. Tap wood.

Do you have a butcher shop that would butcher your roosters for you?
