Can my duck become friendly?

I have fead them rice, lettuce, and hard boiled egg.

Those are all great supplements, but you need to get them a proper food that will be their base diet. I feed my ducks an all flock pellets feed made with extra protein for ducks and layer pellets because I have a mostly laying flock.

They need a balanced feed made for poultry they cannot survive on egg lettuce and rice. There is some places that carry duck starter but if you can't get it then chick starter grower is a good one. They will need some added niacin if you use chick starter because it doesn't have enough niacin for water fowl.

Are you in the US? asking because most drug stores Walmarts etc carry niacin , and my favorite is nutritional yeast you just sprinkle it over top of feed 1 tab per cup. and after 10 weeks only occasionally will they need it.

They also might be a little stressed if you just got them so don't freak out if they aren't eating a ton. How old are they if you don't mind me asking?

Okay so they are brand new. They need some sort of crumbled poultry feed like Purina Flock Raiser.

No wonder you’re having trouble getting them to eat. That’s a wood duck.

You need to get them live mealworms or crickets ASAP. Wood ducklings often die of starvation because they just won’t eat; where as in the wild it’s mainly due to predators.

Movement stimulates their appetite so live food such as stated above is your best bet. Wood ducklings are insectivores, so they’re probably not going to eat any of the food sources you’re giving them. Chances are you won’t even get them to eat starter crumbles either. Your local pet store should carry live mealworms and crickets.

When I’m raising wood ducklings, I get the smallest crickets available to jump over the biggest milestone, which is getting them to eat at all. Even if they’re just nibbling at the food, it’s something to hope for. Once they’re started on crickets and are eating well, I introduce them to wax worms as a variation to their diet, until they’re big enough to start eating super mealworms. I get this at my local Petsmart. In fact, I’m raising a baby wood duck right now who’s getting close to two weeks old and is eating like a champ on this diet.

Wood ducks are bantam ducks in general. They are around call duck size, but even shorter and a little slimmer.
