Can roosters stay in same run/coop as hens?

Have a place ready to separate him if needed, cause when it gets ugly it happens fast.
It all depends on the demeanor of the male.
Having lots of space and places to 'hide' will help.

Hello, I am new to raising chickens. We have 5 hens and 1 rooster currently. One hen is older than 3 years, the other hens are almost 4months old same as rooster.
Can we keep the rooster with the hens in the same run and then same coop at night?
You don't have 5 hens and a rooster. You have one hen, four immature pullets, and one immature cockerel. Juveniles can act quite a bit different than if they were all adults. Eventually when they all mature you should have one happy flock but it could be rough getting through adolescence.

I can't tell you what will happen. That mature hen might beat up on all of them, she might single out a pullet or two, she might really enjoy beating up on the cockerel, or she may be fine with all of them. The pullets probably won't create any problems, they are usually at the bottom of the pecking order though it is always possible one could be a brute. Not likely though. The cockerel could be a special target of the mature hen, she may be a target of him, he may ignore the hen and go after the pullets, or they may all get along fine. If there is any drama (A lot of the time there is no drama) it will probably involve the cockerel.

So what do you do? Try it and base any future actions on what you see. It's possible you will not have any real drama. But also do as Aart suggested, have a place you can isolate a problem chicken (probably the cockerel) at a moment's notice. Hopefully you will never need it, but if you do you will need it then.
