Can We Poll for an Organic Section?

Count me in. Organic, sustainable, permaculture, alternative energy, the works.

I'd love to see one, but I think it should, like mythkat said, also encompass sustainable living in general. I think that just organic and natural methods for raising chickens might be too narrow of a topic for its own forum?

ETA: I meant by forum, section of this forum!

Not a whole 'nother web site.

Oops, yes, I meant a new section on this forum! Not a whole new forum all by itself. Seems like there are a lot of us here trying to raise our chickens the natural way. It would be nice to have a spot to discuss methods, share links and the like.

I'm interested in the organic, homeopathic ways also! Do you know that there isn't a feed store in a 3 county radius that sells UNmedicated chick starter ? I can't afford to feed all organic feeds here because it would have to be ordered online, but I do try to feed the laying mash that has no animal byproducts and no medications. I have to travel 2 counties away to even get that! So my poor chicks are going to have to eat laying mash crumbles for starter feed! Probably GMO corn in that mash anyway, so its nigh impossible to go organic here. But I am still interested in how other folks handle feeding and illnesses organically....

Sorry, I think I misread!

Organic just for chickens? Yeah, I'll discuss with staff.

We are planning another round of category / forum cleanup so we'll throw this into the list of considerations. For now, maybe creating individual topics within existing sections would be the way to go.

SufficientSelf.com!!??? When did that happen! Oooohhhh I love it. They don't call me Crunchie for nothing!

Ok, I take back that an Organic (I don't think it should be called "organic", though, seeing as the USDA has trashed the definition. It's really natural, holistic, something like that) sub-forum should include other natural stuff. Just chickens. Obviously Nifty is one-up on us and there's a whole 'nother site altogether for this stuff!

YAY!

C'mon y'all, join the other forum and let's make it a par-tay!

By the way, everyone needs to join the Easy Garden, too. Good stuff.
