Can you cut chicken feathers

I've seen people give their chickens hair cuts, but I need to know if you can cut butt feathers. I have a 5 year old hybrid that has trouble cleaning her bottom. It's gotten bad enough to where I need to go out daily and clean her myself, and she's got an infection down there. So if I could get some help with the infection part as well that would be great. But again major question: can you cut butt feathers?

Yes, just of course be careful to avoid cutting her skin

I trim my girls' pantaloons when needed (sometimes they get a wad of poop stuck in there). Not much different than cutting hair. It helps if you don't try to cut too close so you won't accidentally nick the skin.
