Bonjour...I found a recettes in " Les Recettes des Fermieres du Quebec" cook book....I dont speak that good of French and my kids and hubby are not around to translate....so I'll give it to you in French ....
Tire Sainte-Catherine
1/2 tasse de sucre
2 tasses de melasse
1 noix de beurre
2 TaBLeSppons de vinaigre essence au gout
Sorry I am missing some accents on some letters...again kids are not here

Melanger le sucre,la melasse ,le buurre et le vinaigre dans une grande casserole.
Faire cuire en brassant jusqu a ebullition.
Continuer la cuisson jusqu a ce que la preparation casse en versant une petite quantite dans l'leau froide.
Ajouter l'essence au gout.Meler parfaitement.Verser dans un plat beurre.
Etirer quand la tire est assez refroidie et jusqu a ce qu'elle ait atteint une belle couleur doree.
Couper en morceaux avec des ciseaux.
My hubby just came in but he has no patience today to sit and translate...Oh VIE!!! But he said its really really good and he remembers his mom would always make it on a special day...but he cannot remember that day to translate it....

Soon as hubby sits down tonight I'll have him translate....and I am very happy to find the recipe for you....I love....no .... really love the french cooking...its a fun time at Christmas...My mIL makes a fantastic mouth watering totiere....spelled wrong...its a meat pie....and you put maple syrup on it and oh my GOSH!!! I love to make one....

I don't think that I'll ever be able to write a cook book but here goes.
Directions
In a large bowl ...mix the sugar, molasses, butter and vinegar.
Bring to a boil while stirring.
Continue cooking until a little placed in cold water breaks (?)
Add your essence (vanilla or other..)....Mix well.
Pour into a greased pan.
When cooled pull the taffy until it's a pretty gold colour.
Cut with scissors.

I came up with that name when I heard my 10 year old daughter cheering on her web kinz....2 4 6 8 W e b k i n z are great !!! YEAH!!! So I said to her 2468 Chickens are great !! YEAH!~!!~ and its easy for me to remember ....haha!! Have a good night...
