Canadians check in here....

Young Chick they do have quite a variety and I had thought of going this route but they need a minimum order of 25 chicks in order to ship. I wish I had room for them but at the moment we are still living within the city limits and city by-laws limit us to 3. I think my best route is to source fertile eggs as seem to be a little easier to ship. Anyone that can help me acquire fertile eggs??? Finding anything within the province seems doubtful. Any suggestions appreciated.
Bummer! Well, I will post something about them after I get the chicks, and at least let you know if they are a good farm to source from perhaps at a later date. Good luck with everything, if I see anything else in my travels I will let you know!

Wait! Do not give up yet!!! I just found an amazing breeder in Belleville, ON who has EVERY breed you could possibly imagine, and if he doesn't have it, he may be able to source it. I know he will not deliver inside of Ontario, but he will deliver out of province! Check him out at www.performancepoultry.com. I have already ordered some day olds myself!

Yes, I have used him too & I am in NB, very pleased!

Hello from Mission, BC

St. John's Newfoundland here.

We are new to raising backyard chickens. Having difficulty finding chicks. Looking for Australorp, Wyandotte, Maran, or other breed that are cold tolerant. Prefer not to have 'barnyard mixes.' City allows 3 hens only so ordering from hatcheries not an option. Are there other Newfoundlanders on here who can help or suggest where we can look?

I am only about forty Min's from you on Bell Island. Welcome!!\\But I have Silkies and Old English game bantams.

Sara Bella,

If you do a search for poultry hatcheries in Canada you'll find some. I am ordering some very beautiful chickens / Cayuga ducks from DC Heritage Chickens. They have been helpful to me in emails & are even going to meet me between here n there to hand deliver hatched chicks to me. They don't ship hatched chicks like many do, but seems you live close enough to drive to their farm if you like. Hope that helped get you pointed in the right direction.

Hows all my fellow Canucks doing? A bit cold here in Ontario today!!
After our nice warm weather the last week, now were down to -20 this am.. WT heck!
I think they pulled all our snow plows off the road.. The highway this am was a skating rink. Worse then it's been all winter.. Again what the heck!!

You all looking forward to spring?

What's it doing in your part of the country?
Here yesterday, I noticed, we had grass turning green, I went to see if I had any spring bulbs poking out.. but no

My chickens were running around the yard, so happy and full of life! The geese were honking, I though yay, there back.. Nope looked up at the sky, change of plans, they were flying south

Wolk up this morning, yup, the white stuff arrived.. and a wind chill making it -20.. I know that's not bad, but last week ,we were double digets in the pluses!!

I live in Ontario, I feel for you all in the west, not to far west... ;)
And I feel for you all to the east!

how are you all doing?
