Canadians check in here....

Hi! This year I am hatching my own chicks! Pretty excited about the whole thing! Which eggs would you hatch? My rooster is a Barnevelder. With an Easter egger, Olive egger, Welsummer, Splash Australorp, Cuckoo Marans, BLR Wyndotte, Salmon Faverolle, Barred Rock and Blue Amerucauna? Those are my egg choices. Thoughts?
If it was me, I would do a mix of all, but especially the Wyandotte, Australorp and Faverolles :)

Brand new to BYC, though I've used it for research.

I'm just outside of Brandon, Manitoba. Just starting into quail.

:welcome ! Glad to have you with us! I'm in the middle of nowhere, about 2 hours west of Ottawa.

We have a really nice community here, folks from all over the world. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. :)

My passion is my Muscovy, but I've really been getting into chickens lately, mostly hatching them. I also have 'regular' ducks, as well as rabbits. Haven't gone the quail route yet.

Sounds awesome. I grew up near Kemptville, there til I was about 9, then moved around. Been in Manitoba for just about 7 years. Just starting my journey into growing more than plants.

Nice. I know Kemptville well, although you wouldn't recognize it anymore! I moved out here to my daughter's property a bit less than two years ago and took full advantage of the acreage and her willingness to let me have critters! She may have regretted that choice by now, lol.

Haha, yeah.... we left the area in '98... and even then, we didn't live IN kemptville, we were closer to Bishops Mills. Even that area, which was sparse countryside, has built up. I havn't been back since I left. Guarentee I wouldn't recognize it. Wasn't a booming town when we left.

It actually saddens me to see how much things are building up. Fields and forest destroyed. :( I'm glad I moved out here!

🇨🇦 👋
Hey everyone.
Small mild climate island at the southern tip of Nova Scotia here.
Which means you get the occasional hurricane, right?

Don't know what I'd prefer, milder winters with a possibility of having everything I own washed away, or colder and snowier but no chance of even the thought of a flood...
