Where are you south of Bancroft? I am in Seagrave, about 30 km north of Oshawa, but we're going to move to Coe Hill, about 20 minutes east of Apsley.

Now there is some familiar country. I used to live near Coe Hill, well at least Coe Hill was the closest town. It really is wild country there - the beavers used to block up the culverts in the spring and I used to see bobcats playing on the road. I have very fond memories of my time there.

Hi, I live in Prospect Bay - well not in the bay you understand but on it. Are there only three of us from Nova Scotia??? I don't have my gals yet but plans are afoot.

Actually I ordered some ready to lay birds from the local co-op, but chicks of many types were available, and I'll be looking into combo meat/egg layers as an option to create a cycle of food on the 'homestead'

Originally from Oshawa, I"m midway between Bancroft and Madoc... if you know the area, it truly is beautiful, but blackfly season is on us already  as i'm trying to finish the roof on a 30x11 lean to greenhouse...bug suits are not an option. Wonder if blackflies, bother chickens? They sure bother me!!

Howdy Laurena.. is there a local Co-op in your area?

Whereabouts between Bancroft and Madoc? We're moving 6KM south of Marmora in 2 weeks, technically Stirling though! You'll probably start to see our posters for our farm soon at your co-op haha.

We need to make some area friends!

Okay, that is not the boonies--middle of nowhere. I used to live between Timmins and Cochrane. That there is the boonies.

I still miss it.

Haha, BOONIES indeed in the Timmins area, I'm there at least twice a year on my way to Sask.

Prospect Bay? I'm in Centre Rawdon! For coop/run ideas for our climate, check my home page below. I must upload the most recent pics, too, our chicks are a month old and doing well.. We bought 12 'mixed bin' babies from the Brooklyn co-op. They were only 12 hours old- nice and hydrated, friendly birds...we are lucky!

Hi everyone, I am Mary from Nova Scotia. Hubby and I will soon be moving to Middle Musquodoboit where we plan on having a few chickens.
