Canker

my vet told me that acv and garlic can damage chickens stomach. but even he admits that small amounts from time to time will not,

It is hard for me to understand why someone would feed chickens something that they KNOW may damage their chickens digestive system.......

someone posted a picture of a wild female cardinal on a wild bird forum I subscribe to. The bird had her mouth open and she had been sitting around opening her mouth like she was yawning, the OP said. She had a bad case of canker, quite visible. :(

Canker looks a lot like wet pox.

if the alternative is antibiotics which make serious damage by killing all good bacteria, then a little bit of natural is a better option. how many times can you treat chickens with antibiotics? I gues 2, max 3. and you can give natural stuff, small quantities, forever.

There IS another option besides pumping organics and antibiotics into chickens, playing nursemaid to a sick chicken for the rest of its life; given contraindications, withdrawal periods and especially the birds quality of life...CULL to eliminate the damage caused by this stuff and to stop the birds suffering.

Metronidazole is not the type of antibiotic that does this.
