OK, yes I do need help please. ASAP. I have the stuff, but it says 5 to 500g of soft food. I want to treat just her. I put her back in hospital today as she is off her food again and obviously not feeling well. I figure 1 g of the stuff is a little less than 1/4 teaspoon, but to how much food would I add it? Also, I checked her mouth again and it now looks normal. I'm taking a guess in thinking that maybe she still has some fungal infection inside, in her crop or innards. I want to get a fecal done on her Monday, but the vet's closed all weekend, so...I figured I'd just continue with plan A until I know more.

Just weighed mine and 1/2 teaspoon weighs 1.75 to 1.8 grams, which is 700,000 to 720,000 iu nystatin. The book I use says to give 300,000 iu per 2.2 pounds twice a day.

Here's the math I use:

five pound hen of mine would get 300,000 iu/kg twice a day
5 / 2.2 x 300,000 / 400,000 = 1.7 grams, so 1/2 level teaspoon twice a day.

Remember that 1/4 teaspoon of water will weigh 1.23 grams, but 1/4 teaspoon of most powders will often weigh *much* less.

Hope that helps.

So, last question (s). What if I wanted to treat the whole flock as a preventative, since I have the stuff? Is there a way to figure out a dose for say, a pound of feed? Is it ok to give vitamins, probiotics, ACV, while she is on it? And why in the world don't these pharmaceutical companies write in layman's terms for backyard flock owners? :O

And this is so weird because today she's eating normally again. I gave her some probiotics yesterday. Whatever is wrong with her, it must not be major, but I don't want it to become major, either. What the heck!?

You would have to research what the preventative dose would be, then guess the weight of your flock and give the the proper amount in the amount of feed they wold eat in a day. As for supplements when using it, I'll guess that probios and vitamins are okay, but I thought I read that ACV should not be used when treating yeast.
