And this is supposed to help the economy how?? Crazy, I can see wanting to improve the environment, but there has to be a better way! Why don't they offer bigger incentives for people to use solar or wind power? That would make sense

Our electric bill is already about $400 in the winter, if it went up we'll probably have to use oil lamps. How would that help the environment?

I have been waiting on solar power to come down in price. It has remained very high for a lot of years and I dont think thats an accident. Now the power companies want to do more solar and wind but they really dont want you to do it. If our power bills go up, then the tax revenue from this goes up as well. Its that simple.

My understanding,[ and why the crazy name, I don't know, except to cause confusion,] is an across the board, tax on all energy, which, in the end , means that everything, will end up with a higher price, including your chicken feed.

It was designed by radical environmentalists, and politicians, who have disdain for America's prosperity, and desire to give us a dose of what it feels like, to be a third world country.

It's equivalent to a bunch of high school do nothings, deciding that the hard working, high achievers need to be punished, so that they can feel good about thenselves.

Ron Paul is a pro-legalization republican. (isn't that ironic?) I like the guy- quite a character- but he's from TEXAS! Hmmmm- Texas, oil companies...... Of course he's not going to support cap & trade.

OK- for all you fans of the Discovery network- and I know you're out there! (Mike Rowe) Treehugger is Discovery company.
Here is some valueable information on how cap & trade will save families up to $900 a year:

If you want the truth- you have to listen to BOTH sides and make an EDUCATED decision. If you are only listening to opponents (the polluters!) you're not getting the big picture.

The Union of Concerned Scientists used the US Department of Energy Modeling System to analyze the long term effects of a comprehensive cap and trade system, like the one included in the Democrat's climate bill that's causing such a ruckus in Congress right now. The UCS found that under such a bill, we could lower carbon emissions 56% by 2030, and thanks to energy efficiency measures included in the bill, American families would save $300 a year by 2020, and $900 by 2030.

These guys are most likely at the trough, just like all the others who dare say nothing about the falasey of global warming, so thier funds for "research" does'nt suddenly go south. Big Brother, and all his subordinates are not in it to save US money.

The refineries are there, yes, but that's ease of location being in the gulf coast.

You're right- but last I heard Texas was the most polluted state in the union. That may have changed after the coal ash spills in Tennessee
