Hope I'm not being redundant - haven't checked the links in forum posts recently but found this one:

This person rescued an OEGR with scaley leg mites. This seemed to be applicable: "If the feet seem to have redness or a secondary infection, you can treat them with a triple antibiotic ointment such as neosporin instead of the petroleum jelly."
I also think that another bath in bacetracin, etc., would help. You're amazing and doing great -

Ok, let me know what you find, I checked the Fleet Farm website and didn't find anything for poultry meds....but I know that there's a lot of meds that are intended for cows, pigs, horses, etc. that people use, I just don't know what to look for, ya know?

I've got him laying on the opposite side here but I do believe the swelling has gone down a little since I rewrapped his leg....

and just for comparison here's the picture I took before....

Or is it just me....by feeling the foot, it doesn't feel as "tight" as it did before

My MIL have worked out pretty well! It can be annoying at times but we are a good balance for the most part. She has been with us going on (I think) 5 years. She has her own suite downstairs with her own full kitchen/bath and enterance. That helps alot!! Your post made me giggle. heehee

I just started following this topic and have to say that I am delighted by the response of the Forum! Hooray for all you are doing for "Lucky", he truly is so fortunate that you found him. As far as antibiotics go, I would recommend "Cepalaxin" it is broad spectrum and would cover most of what you need to worry about. Most of the Poultry antibiotics you'll find are specific for upper respiratory infections. I also agree that I would splint the leg (above and below the breaks) with two supports, so the wraps don't get too tight and inpair the circulation. Keep up the good work...from another Wisconsinite (from East Central WI).
