Luna looked around asthough she knew the guards were there then turned to Terrick. "I know the cave best. I'll go down first." She said then whistled to her hawks who came swooping down. "Guys. Stay out here and attack anyone who might interfear." Both hawks bobbed their heads then took off again."Four of 'em, I think," Merek whispered to Col, counting the 4 figures barely illuminated by the moonlight. The two bandit guards had been half dozing on watch duty and now the small caravan party had made it practically to the entrance, cutting off their ability to warn the other bandits ahead of time. Luna turned and left going the other way.A torch on the wall about 10 feet from the entrance was burning low, but illuminated enough for Terrick to see at least the first section of the tunnel. "How far to the pit?" He asked Luna as she came down the stairs right behind him.

Merek nodded to Col and the two crept as quietly, but as quickly as they could toward the entrance. They were slower than Merek had hoped and the last of the party was already descending down the stairs. The two broke into a run to cover the short distance to the entrance. Vaguely, Merek heard a bird cry out and had only a moment to ponder the fact that hawks would not normally be active at night before he caught sight of Pike and his crossbow...
